New Managing Director at BMT Fluid Mechanics Ltd
BMT Group Ltd announced today that Dr. Volker Buttgereit has been appointed Managing Director of BMT Fluid Mechanics Ltd. He takes over the role from Steve Rowe who will be remaining with the company, to work on various projects and marketing activities, until his retirement in March 2008.
Volker has been a Director of the company since 2003 and has managed the operation of the wind tunnel department since 2001. In this role he has overseen and developed the company's wind engineering consultancy primarily for the civil construction industry, assessing in excess of 200 wind tunnel based projects per year.
On his appointment, Volker said: "BMT Fluid Mechanics is a leading independent consultancy in wind engineering and offshore marine technology and over the years I have worked hard to drive its development forward. I am extremely excited about taking the company's development further, realising our strong growth potential in all sectors."
BMT Group Ltd, Chief Executive, Peter French commented: "BMT Fluid Mechanics is a rapidly expanding part of the BMT group, having recently opened a new office in Abu Dhabi to service its growing number of local clients. We need someone with the determination and skill set to capitalise on our expertise and to nurture our global business in fluid dynamics; I have no doubt that Volker is the right person for this job.
"We will be sad to see Steve Rowe leave the BMT group, having worked with us for the last 22 years. Since his appointment as Managing Director at BMT Fluid Mechanics in 1995, Steve has led the company from strength to strength. He has been the driving force behind the development of software products and computer systems that have generated real solutions for customers in many market sectors, and his ambition has seen the company become a respected independent specialist in wind engineering and offshore marine consultancy. We wish him the very best of luck in his future retirement."
Before joining BMT, Volker was a Wind Engineer at Ove Arup & Partners where he worked on the Millennium Wheel, prior to which he had been a Research Assistant in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College, London.
Volker graduated in Aeronautical Engineering and has a PhD in Fluid Dynamics. He is also a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and of the British Wind Energy Association.
