New Head of Sustainability at BMT Cordah
BMT Group Ltd today announced a new era in its approach to sustainability with the appointment of a leading consultant in this field, Del Redvers, as Head of Sustainability for its subsidiary company, BMT Cordah Ltd.
Del will be responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic approach to sustainability consultancy for BMT Cordah's clients as well as conducting an internal audit to ensure best practice across the group. The sustainability package will include research into BMT's areas of specialist expertise including oil and gas, energy and environment, defence, and ports and logistics.
Peter French, Chief Executive of BMT Group Ltd, commented, "Appointing a professional of Del's calibre and experience offers both BMT and its clients the opportunity to progress towards a sustainable future for business. BMT has been at the forefront of sustainable policy for each of its sector specific work, and the appointment of Del in this role will allow the company to develop this expertise even further."
Del will be utilising his expertise to assess the diverse sectors in which BMT operates and reinforce best practice in relation to corporate responsibility policy across all of its subsidiaries. As part of this internal audit, he will evaluate BMT's own supply chain, travel practices and energy consumption, and then compare these results to the reported sustainability practices of the broader sectors themselves.
Further to this internal audit, as well as the much anticipated amalgamation of sustainability expertise that is offered by the BMT divisions, Del will formulate the group sustainability package for clients. This will consist of a solid and all-encompassing response to complex, pressing questions such as how to attain resource efficiency; including how to incorporate into business practice methods to alleviate climate change.
Del will also specifically address issues such as governance and transparency, consideration of existing and future environmental liabilities, and long-term business viability.
On his appointment, Del said "I am delighted to begin this extremely important work with BMT, who have set the bar very high for delivering a sustainability package of the finest quality."
He added that "I welcome the agenda of providing clients with the leadership, in terms of thought and delivery, which they are used to getting from BMT."
Previously, Del worked as Head of Corporate Sustainability for Beyond Green, where he led the organisation's team for this sector, designing and delivering a world-class corporate sustainability service. In addition, as Chief Executive of Business Community Connections, Del established a consultancy service which specialised in creating partnerships to achieve corporate social responsibility goals, working with clients such as Barclays Bank and Cadbury Schweppes.
